We embrace where we live and all that nature delivers. We strive to look after te taiao (environment) and are always looking to improve our sustainable tourism journey and welcome the development of regenerative tourism. We have attended the Murihiku Southland Sustainable Tourism course and started on our journey to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as we can without it effecting your stay. We endeavour to reduce waste on a daily basis and encourage recycling and composting. In our Tanara rooms we have water bottles to loan and refill from our filtered water taps while you stay, to decrease the use of plastic water bottles. We endeavour to have filtered water in all rooms by the end of 2024 . All food waste is turned into composting and garden fertilizer created by our worm farm. We clean with bio-degradable cleaners and plant derived biodegradable ingredients such as tea tree.
Whether you’re embarking on a day exploring the Milford/Doubtful Sounds, travelling to our popular Glow Worm Caves, exploring our lake or seeking solace in nature’s embrace on our popular hiking tracks, Fiordland Lakeview Motel and Apartments invites you to be a part of the solution while indulging in the splendours of Fiordland’s landscapes.
Tama tu tama ora, tama noho tama mate
An active person will remain healthy while a lazy one will become sick.
If a room service is not required we donate $10 to Whitestone Riverview Farm to plant native trees on their property for wind protection and natural flora and fauna around their duck pond. Our lights are on timers with LED bulbs. We attempt to conserve energy with turning off electric appliances and lighting when rooms aren’t in use. We continually try to “Do Better”.
Mai i te Kōpae ki te Urupa, tātou ako tonu ai
From the cradle to the grave, we are forever learning.
Waste Reduction: We’ve implemented recycling and composting programs to significantly reduce the amount of waste we send to landfills. Please use the compost bins on your benches.
Energy-Efficient Appliances: All our appliances are energy-efficient, making your stay both comfortable and environmentally responsible.
Reuse Towels and Linens: Help us save water and energy by reusing towels and linens during your stay. If you need them changed, simply flip over your room service sign and we will service for you. If you don’t require a service we will donate $10 per room to native tree planting. Service times 10am—12pm.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Use our designated recycling bins and containers to dispose of waste responsibly. Outside our yellow bins are for recycling (clean and lids off) and the red bins for land fill.
Conserve Energy: Turn off lights and electronics when you’re not in your room to conserve energy.

My success should not be bestowed onto me alone, as it was not individual success but success of a collective.
